Most of the other Beer Money, or online earning pages tend to cater primarily to residents of the U.S.A. It makes sense considering that most of the sites themselves tend to cater primarily to residents of the U.S.A. Yet that is little consolation to the rest of us. UK sites - Best ones to earn more money?

My current two top ones are clickworker and usertesting that both work in the UK despite being foreign currency. Clickworker is very very small payments - Less than a penny for some tasks but theres no minimal withdrawal. either way im lettign it build up. UserTesting is great when im sat at home to check as soon as theyre posted by i dont qualify for the majority of them.
Ive tried swagbucks but found it incredibly slow and only just hit the £30 Paypal withdrawal from GlobalTestMarket (Although i do quite like them)
Any other tips for sites where a fair amount can be earned with a lot of hard work and effort?

My buddy is willing to deposit/cash out money for me if I transfer him the cash first. How should I go about this. He plays on 888poker and their software seems to let me into money games with an american IP. I guess my biggest questions are:
  1. Is it worth the hassle and conversion fees?
  2. When making an account, should I use his address and info?
Thanks for any futre help poker!

New GME member orientation before blast off: The squeeze has not been squoze (💎🙌 = 🚀🚀🚀)

This is a compilation DD for you new simps out there trying to become chad GME investors and grow 1/1000th the dick that DeepFuckingValue has. This post will cover the basics of how we got here and answer some of your simmering questions that I see flooding daily discussions.

TLDR: Hold the line and buy the dip give the glorious finger to these greedy corporates. Remember 💎🙌 = 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀

GameStop History Lesson:

tldr: GME bumbles about like a senile boomer and dabbles in terrible bets. Turns into undervalued stock with cultural significance, gets picked up by Big Dick Burry and Ryan Chewy Cohen.
GME is a childhood dream that turns any grown man into an autist as soon as he walks into the door. Now due to our Lady Rona (covid), a bunch of past Boomer business decisions (GME fucking bough 507 AT&T stores in 2014, not pivoting into omni-channel, largely misssing the gaming industry explosion, and a CEO who prides himself on brick and morter Advance auto parts, Best Buy, Target, Home depot) GME by and large was shitting the bed as investors thought of this company as neglected mallfront with dwindling clientele.

In comes Michael big dick Burry
With the stock trading at $3.78/share in August 2019 investers were sure it was finished. But here's where it gets interesting. With big dick energy seemingly out of no where Michael Burry (yes that dude in the Big Short who seems like a fellow autist) buys 2,750,000 shares or 3.05% of GameStock. In his actual letter to the board (yes I dug it up so you can read it as well) he describes the thought process for the purchase bullets below.

(Taking a break to say, it's not too late the squeeze has not been squoze oblig 💎🙌 = 🚀🚀)

Ryan mega dick Cohen writes a letter
Then in Nov 16th 2020, Ryan Cohen comes in swinging and tears a new one to the board members of GameStop. For people who don't know who Ryan Cohen is, he stuck the finger to Amazon and built a digital e-commerce site) (wiki link) for fucking dogs and cats into a $3.35 billion entity by 2017. Keep in mind that he submitted a Schedule 13D to purchase 121,644 shares at $6.56 per and 163,030 at $8.63 - that's a 10% stake (yes, I've also dug the original Schedule 13d using google). Now Ryan's letter reads like a solid talking down that might rival the Queen - looking at you TheCrownNetflix, AskUK.
I've included Ryan's letter to the board but will bullet point paraphrase below for you folks still on Yahoo or Ask Jeeves.

Ryan mega dick Cohen and team join GameStop board
In January 2021 Ryan Cohen, Alan Attal, and Jim Grube join GME's board. Now for those of you in the bread line or living at your wife's mothers house playing DnD with her boyfriend, board changes are big news. These board members have the power to make multiple grown men cry, fire CEOs like it's nothing and change a companies strategy sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.
With Papa Cohen coming onboard and his squad of Chewy troopers, it's likely that we are going to soon see a pimped out GameStop that will make you name your first born "GME". Now I'll let you do your own digging and reading but here's just some of the GME DD on it's future potential (link to DD on some of GME's possible pivots, One DD to rule them all)

The squeeze has NOT been squoze:

There is still time for you to convince your wife's girlfriend to lend you money to buy GME. The squeeze has not been squoze and likely wont until we see the type of eruption that accompanied belledelphineXmas leaks (yes that sub is NSFW).
Side note on the Squeeze, GME is still massively over shorted at estimates from 130-300% and counting. The important thing to know is that these greedy bastards took multiple short positions on a single stock (naked) and essentially bet that GME was going to go down.
https://financhill.com/most-heavily-shorted-stocks-today (249.67% Shorted)

But what happened on Thursday/Friday?
Gamma squeeze. Short and simple. Now you can read some other DD about what a gamma squeeze so I wont dive into it too much.
It was not the squeeze. Market makers needed to rush to fill calls that were In The Money. This prompted these market makers to buy up stock in the off chance that they needed to actually sell them to degens who were actually betting that GME would blow it's sweet load at 60 and now at 150 lolz. This pared with the low stock volume on the market makes for high volitility on a per stock basis. Here's some DD links talking about what a Gamma squeeze what we witnessed was that.

Ok MallCop2020, but when will it Squeeze? (when it does squeeze it may squeeze multiple times)
Thanks to fellow autist u/tsukune_surprise (and no, CNBC I don't even know this person - they could be a robot or even a fucking dog with a cybor implant IDK!) BUT I love their DD for the MOASS (Mother of All Short Squeeze). Short answer is that it could be this week, could be next but it's hard to say when the big banks are using dirty tricks like naked call ladders, actual bail outs lolz. (Fresh DD from another internet stranger on GME EndGame Part 3)
EVERY SINGLE indicator shows massive upward momentum on GME.
GME momentum is going to create a massive upward feedback loop. The combination of options gamma squeeze, available float, and short interest makes it impossible for shorters to escape.
Normally, shorters deep underwater could hedge their losses by buying call options.
But buying call options decreases the float and the only tightens the squeeze. It’s like fighting against quicksand for the shorters.
This GME squeeze is going to be historic because of the compounding effect of options and short interest.
This could be bigger than the VW/Porsche infinity squeeze. But it’s completely different from VW – so don’t draw too many comparisons.

Okay, I've asked my wife's girlfriend nicely and now have $1k...
Buy fucking shares. No legit, support your random internet brethren (who don't know each other) and buy shares of GameStop. Every share you buy bleeds money from Citron and Melvin.
Here's an explanation from u/robert1032010 a Hedge Fund Manager on the current short position within GME: (A hedge fund managers perspective on GME)
The short positions of this issue appears (although I can't be certain) to exceed 100% with all available shares already lent out from marginal accounts and probably a lot of naked shorting going on as well. Although I don't yet have the current data on todays short position, I can say for certain the stock remains very heavily shorter, perhaps more so now than at any previous time. Today, I called my broker asking about the availability of shares to short and the borrow costs. We have one of the larger accounts at our brokers firm and I was able to speak directly to the "hard to borrow" desk. No borrowable shares are available at any broker, anywhere, at this time, even for high borrow costs or even from other brokers. This extreme short against a small common float, made more extreme no-doubt by naked shorting, could end very poorly for those short this issue. As they are forced to close out their positions, the stock will continue to rise and continue to exacerbate the positive effects the rising price has on the above 4 issues.

Lastly, this is not financial advice; do your own DD. I'm holding $20k at $100/share and yes, I still fucking believe that the tendieman will come and rain tendies.
Oblig:

Do Not mess with my family, I will destroy you..

Ok so this goes way back and still leaves me fuming This is my very first post will be probably long winded but there is a reason :)
Background: I will call myself Daisy qualified as mechanical engineer in the mid 1980's working in Textiles, in a little African country, Players.
Ed the consultant with carte blanche , ed was there to assess performance but also investigate why a profitable company takes a nose dive within 18 months.
The villains are Bob, NoB BoN
Story is long, take a break get yourself a coffee/tea/ shake/ cocktail whatever rocks your boat..
I was part of a management team employed on behalf of an NGO (Non Govt Organisation) company funded by the Commonwealth and IMF ( International Monetary Fund) to help set up viable labour intensive industry for this country in the Mid 1990's.
To start with this was a dream job Free luxury accommodation in a secured village with Tennis courts, swimming pool. Free utilities like electric, water and telephone landline (no internet at that time and no mobiles in this region) Free private schooling for my 3 children A monthly allowance ( note not salary) and a great pension.. the catch was that my husband was not allowed to work permanently, he could consult for companies but not be employed as part of the work and residential permit process I was the total breadwinner. I was respected by the management team and my employees. I loved the people of this nation, the culture the warmth and the willingness to learn even if the majority of the employees were Illiterate - I helped set up schools to improve their verbal and written skills not only in English but also in the local official language, I woke each day ready to tackle the challenge and see the company flourish and become profitable
The company becomes very profitable and as part of agreement with the CDC (Commonwealth Development Corporation) & IMF ( International Monetary Fund) it needs to be sold to investors in this country as a profitable venture with the caveat that all local employees remain in employment for 18 months.
The order books were full, the bank balance very healthy on the day the new owners came in.
The new owners have their headquarters in South East Asia, this is when the troubles began New CEO (NoB) and CFO (BoN) come in and first order of the day is to remove the majority of the previous management and bring their team in.
I was told in no uncertain terms that as a female I should be home breeding and not working, my time was up hmph. the company starts "loosing money" within 9 months, this new team started blaming the local employees, this meant that head office sent in an independent observer ( will call him Ed) to feedback proposals to the group's CEO in South East Asia, this is important for later.
I had to have medical leave for 8 weeks and whilst on medical leave the CEO makes decision to cut off free private education for my children and no more free utilities or food allowance WITHOUT adjusting my Allowance - remember as a true expat the company owns you totally - I made a formal complaint but was told if I did not like it the company would inform the Country Government that I had been fired due to not being qualified, this would have meant 48hrs to leave the country with NO support from the company this means my family would loose everything and become distitute!
On my return to work they Demote me and place their own man to run my previous department ( engineering and maintenance)
I go to introduce myself to my new Manager ( let's name him "Bob" ) Bob refuses to shake hands and states that he is there to make my life hell and get me fired.. I saw RED.. NO ONE THREATENS MY FAMILY'S wellbeing and gets away with it, he was only the spokesman for the senior management.. Pay Back is needed
I decide to start investigation on what is going on...
In the 12 months that this new management team has taken over.. the company is now in serious debt. New equipment that had been installed by the NGO previously has to be "sold" to help pay salaries. The pension fund was found to be "under funded" explained as the NGO having "taken money out".
This management team has somehow brought over extended families that were all being educated in top Universities either in South Africa or even the UK as well as top private schools in the region for the younger children, there was also extended house staff and drivers.. all of this coming out as "losses" in the company books. To top it up I find out that my new Manager's University Doctorate degree was fake! This management team treat the local staff as sub-human, I had had enough of this Bullshit, time to sort these wankers out.
STAGE 1: Prove current boss is not qualified in what he says he is..talk to Ed about my suspicion, show him the transcript from telephone conversation with the University that he has a PhD from and we set a trap..
We have a set of machines that are seriously underperforming , Ed and me work out a plan where I walk into lead meeting late I was to be quiet until Ed asked, we wanted to give Bob enough rope. In the meeting I sit quietly whilst Bob blames the local operators, the local maintenance fitters for all the woes that are happening and reasons why we can't meet the order book demands, Ed sweetly asks if there is a possibility of a mechanical issue and Bob denies it. Ed then asks me for my opinion.. I explained that Bob has been Changing suppliers of critical component to cheaper versions but somehow they still cost the same on the "official" books, I had evidence that demonstrates that Bob was receivng a significant percentage of the difference on the side. I also stated that I could fix the problem using some of the correct components, if I was wrong then by all means I could be fired. Ed sets a challenge to me and Bob, each one of us has a team of fitters and our chosen components.
Bob storms to shop floor and does his usual screaming at everyone, I go down and explain what I was trying to achieve and how it would benefit the operators and get the project going at end of week I have to report back to management team, Ed had asked a few operators, mechanics and production supervisors how Bob worked and if there was any attempt to sabotage my project.. Needless to say Bob did try everything, Ed gives Bob a chance to come clean but Bob still stated I was a liar and knew nothing. Ed stands up goes to the door opens it and outside is Bob's Family, Ed had organised drivers and contacts to fly to South Africa pick up all the Children from schools and Universities and for those in UK the University was informed no company funds would be forthcoming, then he proceeded to give each of Bob's family plane tickets for the following morning . Company security guards and police were sent with Bob to his bank where these funds were frozen due to fraudulent transactions, he accepted a plea bargain, he will not be welcome in Africa ever and his home country police where informed When Bob landed in his home country the head office had organised a police escort.. basically he was unemployable and his family greatly shamed.. I hope he got his just desserts couldn't care less - Stage one complete!
Stage 2 the final event prove NoB and BoN have been defrauding the company and Country...
NoB and BoN were still in charge of the company this is now 18 months from take over.. the stated clause that the workforce could not be touched was up NoB and BoN called an all site meeting.. they stood upfront with tears running down on how the NGO had lied about the company orders and profitability, how they are trying their best but the company is really struggling and people will loose their jobs.
I had been working closely with NoB and BoN's secretary, so had been able to access the info needed- survival kicked in
As I was part of the original management team I had the original accounts that were audited as part of the CDC and IMF funding for the NGO.. in between I accumulated information on the losses being shown and the missing money going off- shore into private accounts and not the head office accounts You see these 2 did not respect women or the locals and assumed that what was being done would not be picked up.. if they had bothered to understand who they employed in the office they would have found that the purchase officer and the accounting supervisor were qualified accountants with close links to Government, the banks and they were.. you're right - women.
I had explained that there would be a time when we needed evidence to safeguard the money and people's livelihood.. so the files had been building from when they were in 6 month to now a year later..
NoB announces that 66% of staff will have to be let go, again I talk to Ed and give him the evidence we had been accumulating.
NoB calls me to the office to tell me that I am redundant with immediate effect and that to be able to stay in the country to sort out my family I would now owe the company rent that was Twice my given allowance.. I lost it... I literally turned around and explained that in less than 24hours he would have no future, his family would have no future, no matter where they run .. they would be found.. I knew this to be true as Ed already had the wheels in motion. This time the Group Chairman walks in on my heated conversation together with the IMF representative and BoN in toe.
Nob was fired on the Spot loaded onto a plane with an international warrant for fraud.. the IMF persued this fully .. they were screwed.. in this South East Asian country a stain on your trustworthyness means you are untouchable...
As for me.. well the company limped along but I no longer trusted anyone from that group.. myself and my husband found employment in another regional country this time both of us had work permits and also had airtight contracts.. no one will ever screw us over or make us feel like slaves The message was- do not threaten my children or my family ... I will destroy you by waiting until you hang.. not proud just realistic. Update: After I left this company I actually ran a little guest lodge .. wanted a break from the chaos only to get into other type of chaos Now living in the UK, came home to my husband's home town Some other stories will be told though they will not beat this one.. will probably need to have these either under entitled, choosing beggars or pro-revenge.. Your support really super..

[English Football] How a youtube channel revolutionised fan engagement while turning one of England's biggest clubs into a laughing stock

Apologies for the delay in getting this one out. I had a spell of writer's block which I fixed with some cricket writing earlier this week.
Welcome to the English Football Hobbydrama series, a deep dive into some of the petty feuds, arguments, drama, and shithousery in the Home of Footballtm. The first six episodes covered Nottingham Forest's 21st century woes, the dickpic that consigned Notts County to the non-league, a reignited rivalry between Derby County and Leeds United, Stoke City's legendary shithouse era, the English Golden Generation of the 00s descending into farce, and Wimbledon FC's controversial relocation to Milton Keynes. A Scottish Football spin-off also explored the story of Rangers' liquidation.
Today we have the first instalment focusing on one of the 'big clubs' of the Premier League, I have generally focused this series on clubs which don't have worldwide fame and fanbases, but the drama is just too spicy to ignore. Welcome to the wild ride of Arsenal Fan TV
Background - The Establishment Club
Arsenal long enjoyed a reputation as a staid yet respectable club, part of the furniture in the First Division. They are the long serving top flight club, being continuously in that division since the end of the First World War. Arsenal is also the record FA Cup winner, winning it 14 times (and being the current holders), along with being London's most successful club in terms of time spent in the top flight and domestic trophies in a sport where clubs from Northern England have historically punched above their geographic weight.
After 'glory years' in the 1930s the club tottered along in the top flight, generally able to finish in the top-half most years and enjoy frequent cup success, but generally not winning the League title often. Arsenal won six titles from 1930-48 (a period including six years of no official league football), and then won the title only twice between 1948 and 1989.
During this period Arsenal were widely seen as the 'good guys', a classy club who represented a slightly moralistic and small-C conservative way of going about things, playing fairly and treating others well without being unduly worried about winning titles. The headlines of 1950s-80s English football belonged to drama merchants such as Leeds United, Liverpool, and Brian Clough's two East Midland clubs, not to the rather quiet perennial First Division participants from North London.
All this changed in the later 1980s, with Arsenal winning the 1989 and 1991 League titles under George Graham, with the 1989 title being decided in a legendary final-day match against title contenders Liverpool. Suddenly Arsenal were in the limelight as they achieved things like the 1993 FA Cup/League Cup double or winning the 1994 European Cup Winner's Cup. Graham left in 1995, embroiled in a bribery scandal, while his successor lasted less than a year.
Arsenal's 1996 managerial appointment would define the club for a generation. The aptly named Arsene Wenger was a mercurial aesthete of the game with strong views on how football should be played. He strongly advocated for attractive and attacking football in a league where the more old-fashioned playing styles popular in England still dominated, and he signed a substantial number of players from his native France as Arsenal became one of the first teams to have a substantial playing contingent not from the four British 'Home Nations' or the Republic of Ireland.
Wenger's Arsenal is remembered for the 'Invincible' season of 2003-04, when Arsenal became the first club ever to go unbeaten in a 38 game season (the only previous 'Invincible' season, that of Preston North End in 1888-89, was in a smaller league with a 22 game season). They had won two League titles (those of 1998 and 2002) before this legendary season, as well as three FA Cups and two League Cups and being the losing finalists of the 2000 UEFA Cup, but this was definitely Arsenal's peak achievement under Wenger.
Arsenal won the 2005 FA Cup and became the first London team to reach a Champion's League final in 2006 (losing to Barcelona), but generally the flurry of honours under Wenger slowed.
By 2012 Arsenal had not won a trophy since the 2005 FA Cup and many fans started to feel the magic was dying off. Fortunately for them, they were to gain a legendary platform to air their views
Enter Robbie
Robbie Lyle had worked in media as a presenter on BBC radio specialising in reggae music but now found himself working as a surveyor. In late 2012 he, and a cameraman, set up a youtube channel called ArsenalFanTV, pioneering the concept of fan-led football punditry.
When interviewed in a Vice piece some years later Robbie explained his concept
We’ve all had enough of the so-called pundits, most of whom aren’t even at the games. So I started my own channel to hear from the real fans, with real opinions. That was my aim with the site.
Robbie's idea was simple, but infectious. Give fans a platform for banter, rants, and hot takes, and the content would essentially create itself. Football punditry had long sought to maintain a light-hearted approach with a lot of banter in order to appeal to a generally young and male audience, but nobody had yet proposed to essentially set up a camera crew outside the ground for any supporter to say their piece and have it broadcast.
In the channel's early days it acquired an eclectic stable of presenters and contributors, all of whom had their own 'gimmick'
The differing views on the club created a good dynamic for generating youtube drama. See this compilation of Ty and Claude as Ty tends towards optimism while Claude maintains a pessimistic outlook epitomised by his catchphrase 'it's time to go'.
For the first few years Robbie's concept ticked over, with his microphone becoming a standard feature at a certain spot near the Arsenal ground after matches, ready for fans to deliver the latest hot takes, but it wasn't until 2016 that things really took off.
It's Time To Go
Arsenal finished second in the 2015-16 Premier League, but the trophy drought since Wenger's success days had started to bite. The 2016-17 season was worse for Arsenal on the pitch as they failed to finish in the top four places (important for qualification to European competitions), but it was also the season that ArsenalFanTV gained real notoriety and exposure in the mainstream media.
DT from ArsenalFanTV started flying these banners at matches, drawing attention to the section of the Arsenal fanbase who wanted to part with Arsene Wenger, in contrast to those such as Ty who wanted him to stay.
After a promising enough start to the 2016-17 season, results flagged and Arsenal appeared on course for their first finish outside the top four since the 1990s. Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville criticised the atmosphere around ArsenalFanTV in February 2017, the first major pundit to directly address the channel and what they perceived as a sensationalist drive towards rants which attracted views.
A piece the following week in the Guardian asked whether these channels really did appeal towards supporters of those clubs, or perhaps gained popularity through notoriety and a steady stream of car-crash moments and on-screen drama.
The strongest ranters, such as Troopz, lent themselves so easily to compilation videos highlighting only the hottest of their takes, and people from fanbases sought to get on in the action. ArsenalFanTV-inspired imitator created viral videos such as this of a Manchester United supporter.
2017 went from bad to worse as Arsenal Fan TV took part in a video collaboration with the tabloid paper The Sun. Any sort of work with The Sun is, to put it mildly, contentious amongst football supporters. In the wake of the 1989 Hillsborough Disaster when a combination of poor policing and a dangerously unsafe ground lead to a crush which killed 96 Liverpool supporters the Sun had printed various falsehoods about Liverpool supporters at the match, and it has been subject to a boycott ever since by supporters of both Merseyside clubs and to a lesser extent those supporters of other English clubs who sympathised with Liverpool's plight. In all fairness to Robbie, he deleted the video and apologised, but more high-profile drama and scandal was to come.
Arsenal actually won the 2017 FA Cup final, their first piece of silverware since 2014. Had Wenger turned a corner, and finally won over the fans spewing hot takes over the internet?
Of course not, things were only just starting for ArsenalFanTV
The players get involved
Hector Bellerin, the Spanish fullback, became the first Arsenal player to speak openly. He was the first ever Premier League player invited to speak at the Oxford Union, the debating society of Oxford University with a strong track record in attracting speakers from the highest avenues of public life for its members. Bellerin essentially questioned whether the youtubers were real fans and suggested that, although players have long learnt to avoid social media, they were making money from resentment and failure at Arsenal.
At about this point, many supporters of other clubs asked 'what failure?'. Arsenal had won an FA Cup the season before Bellerin's comments, regularly qualified for European competitions, and won a huge array of domestic titles within the living memory of most supporters. The 'resentment' became perceived as one grounded in entitlement and a failure to appreciate blessings that the majority of English clubs do not have. Clubs wax and wane, and there are formerly successful clubs in far worse straits than Arsenal (such as Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, and Derby County) yet it was not those clubs who gained notoriety through a youtube channel aimed at allowing fans to air their views and grievances.
Nonetheless, the show continued throughout 2017-18, a season which saw Arsenal once again qualify for the less prestigious Europa League rather than the Champion's League.
In August 2018, the channel rebranded to AFTV, with the club seeming no longer willing to allow the channel to occupy the space it did and use the Arsenal name in full.
The last two seasons
The Europa League wasn't so bad for Arsenal. They made it to the final, as the world enjoyed the irony of two London clubs being forced to play their final in Azerbaijan owing to that country's greater willingness to pay backhanders to UEFA.
It wasn't so good for AFTV. A contributor, Lee Gunner, talked about donations made and profiting over an Arsenal loss when his microphone had been left on over half time. Lee was removed from the channel and never appeared again, but the episode did little to dispel suspicions that the channel was a grift.
This period also saw an interesting story where AFTV influenced the club. Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang developed a close relationship with Troopz from AFTV, appearing on the show several times and inviting Troopz to watch games in an executive box at the ground until Arsenal's hierarchy put a stop to this. Granit Xhaka had been stripped of the captaincy after telling fans to 'fuck off' for booing him in a home draw to Crystal Palace, with Aubayemang being his replacement, a decision which rankled with fans owing to his connections to AFTV which had been perceived as having a vendetta against Xhaka.
A blog piece accused Robbie Lyle of profiting from Arsenal fans' toxicity, interestingly accusing fans who believed in a media vendetta against Arsenal for being too London-centric, journalism in the UK is highly centred on upper-middle class Londoners who naturally write about clubs they are more likely to support, such as Arsenal, Chelsea, or Tottenham Hotspur.
At the backend of 2019, Robbie had a police escort out of Goodison Park, not to protect him from Everton fans, but from Arsenal fans angered by his presence.
It probably didn't help matters that one of Robbie's biggest defenders was Piers Morgan, a man almost universally reviled in Britain for his unscrupulous time as a tabloid newspaper editor.
Even with COVID, could 2020 gives us a bit more drama?
Of course it could.
The lack of fans outside grounds reduced the amount of hot fan takes on offer from AFTV, but Claude was sacked from the channel in the summer of 2020 for referring to Korean footballer Heung-Min Son as a 'DVD' during a game against Tottenham Hotspur, this is apparently a slur in some parts of London for East Asian people who are stereotypically associated with selling bootleg films at markets.
Given Arsenal's status as possibly one of the most cosmopolitan fanbases in Britain (a consequence of playing in Britain's most multiracial area) and Robbie Lyle's admirable work talking about racism in football, for a longstanding contributor to leave on such terms was perhaps more sad than anything.
Conclusion
What have we learnt from this?
AFTV has changed the game of fan engagement in the era of social media. We all have opinions, and the more colourful ones definitely do well with online algorithms that promote the divisive 'hot takes', causing an arms race of extreme views as channels and presenters seek to outdo each other.
Personally? I find it difficult to feel too much sympathy for supporters of a club that remains one of the big players and has given their fans more in the last three years than my own club has achieved in the last generation. But we are all passionate about our clubs, and for better or worse, AFTV pioneered giving fans a viral platform.

Lockdown 3.0 Things to do, plus help and support.

Disclaimer I want to thank everyone for the gilds, replies and suggestions. I just do not have time to reply to everyone, but I am reading everything. I am not sure how much bigger the thread can be, I already typed this but it vanished so I think I'm at the limit. I will try to keep updating, but I don't expect the thread to be up top for much longer and will likely vanish soon, so if you need anything save it.
Yes, it's hard, it sucks, it's depressing. It is something we all have to do if you want to see this virus go. Everyone knows the deal, too many think they're the exception but no one is. However, staying home is hard so maybe I can help at least one or two people with some incentives. I'll try to give links to some things that can help cure the boredom, and some support if you need it.
Most of this might be obvious to some, some might not even have internet and of course, money is a big issue, so I'll try to give some suggestions:
For streaming and on demand things such as Netflix et al, don't forget you can subscribe for free for your first month. This goes for most things in the list. If you are worried about putting in your payment details and forgetting to cancel a month later, don't worry! You can sign up and immediately cancel and you still get your free month!
For people who don't have a smart TV, you can buy a cheap Amazon Fire TV stick or a Roku box. The Fire stick can go as low as £20 often for 1080p. It will drop to £30 for 4k.
I picked up a 4k Roku device for £18 on Amazon once. It's fast and snappy. currently it's going for £33 for the 4k version. Having both, there is little difference between the devices. NowTV also do their own roku powered device.
Subscription based streaming sites that all offer 2-4 weeks free for first timers
  • Netflix *According to comments the second month is free.
  • Amazon Prime You can either get Amazon video on its own, or take prime with other benefits. I strongly urge those who use Amazon for buying off their store front to use [https://smile.amazon.co.uk/] as there is literally no difference except everything you buy amazon donates to a charity of your choice.
  • Now TV (I believe it's 7 days)
  • Disney+
  • Britbox
  • Amazon channels. I believe you can get all these individually but Amazon offers them as channels bound to your prime account, and they are again either free for a couple weeks (again, take them, cancel instantly) or very cheap. I recently subscribed to Starzplay for £1 for 3 months. It has some good shows on it like Fringe, doom patrol. It also has channels like Curiosity stream and shudder
If you have not subscribed to the any of the above, you can get a few months of free TV by signing up and cancelling instantly. I suggest waiting at least 5 minutes just to let it go through the system.
Some tips for Now TV. IF you already have a subscription, I've noticed you can get it cheaper by cancelling. When you cancel they will beg you to stay. Select "I can not afford it this month" and they should beg again, telling you what shows they have. If you say you still want to cancel, they'll beg one last time and offer you the subscription for cheaper. This won't work every month, but I've noticed they'll always offer it the first time, then again after a couple months. If you're subscribed to both films and entertainment do the most expensive one as it may not work both times (but it might!). You can also pick up passes from storefronts a lot cheaper sometimes, before I could pick one up on Amazon for £3 but, they seem to have cracked down on it. If you shop around (or if anyone knows of a legitimate store please let me know) you might be able to pick it up cheaper. Lastly, check their website and under your account they should have an "offers for you" section.
Completely free TV
If you do have a smart TV and/or device, there are some good free streaming apps. One I really love is called PlutoTV. I know this is on both Roku and the fire stick, as well as Ps4/Ps5 and xbox.
Pluto offers a bunch of live channels and now an on demand section, all for free. It has adverts but they are actually short (shorter than regular TV and fewer of them). Some of the channels are just streaming certain shows like Mythbusters 24/7 or Dog the bounty hunter, but it has a lot of old movie channels as well as 24/7 kickboxing and MMA. It also has a 24/7 poker channel I quite like.
Another one I like is Rakuten Viki however, I haven't watched it for a while as my fire stick is only 1080p and I have too many other devices attached. I believe it is on Roku but you have to jump through some hoops and have an account. The last I checked on the fire stick you did not. Viki offers a metric ton of Asian shows, mainly from Japan and South Korea but it does have chinese, Malaysian etc. It has subtitles. Some Japanese shows are hysterical, albeit weird.
Roku also do their own channels with free shows if you own a device.
For those who don't have a smart TV or a Streaming device, you can set up your own computer as a dedicated streaming device with Plex. It's been a while since I used it but I believe it now also offers free movies and TV.
Anime
If you are into Anime there is
The first 2 are free to watch, or offer premium without ads which you can have a trial with. Crunchyroll is the better of the two with more original choice for Japanese voice and subs, while Funimation has more Dubs. I don't believe HiDive is free to watch but you do get a 2 week trial. These are more exclusives than the previous two.
PC Centric software
If you are a gamer or like Audiobooks or anything that uses computers for things like music making, programming or graphic design
Humble Bundle offers, as per the name, bundles. A long running site that got bought out by IGN. It offers both single items and bundles you can buy individually/as a pack while also offering a separate monthly subscription for around £8-9. The subscription gives you 12 games on average per month. That's the simplest explanation but it changes somewhat as sometimes you get to pick 10 out of 14 games, or get all 12.
Humble bundle offers more than just games though. Every Tuesday they bring a new bundle of games, while Thursday (I "think) a new bundle of books. They very often have books from the Black Library giving you a ton of Warhammer books. Sometimes it's standard E-books, other times it's audiobooks. A few times a year they do bundles for graphic design, a typical bundle would include programs like Paintshop Pro Corel Painter etc, They usually go for £0.76 for tier 1 up to around £18 for tier 3, which would include 4-6 full titles with 10+ addons. They also often have Music making bundles or video editing software as well as Programming or video game development.
The bundles change often, they usually have around 11 bundles at a time that last for 20 days. Sometimes it's trash but they do often have some very good deals.
Fanatical offers the same as humble bundle except usually not as high quality, but sometimes they do have some incredible deals, and they are very very cheap.
Both humble and fanatical are safe, trusted and been around a long time, and they are NOT grey market key sites. They work with the publishers and developers. You can buy games both old and new for a lot cheaper than you would most other places. Unless it states otherwise, keys are usually for steam.
**BOTH HB and Fanatical (HB much more common) offer free games fairly often. The catch is linking your steam account to them (at least HB). It is safe however.
IndieGala is another site like above. Except, these are much much lower quality. However, they offer a metric ton of free games. Quality is low but it is legitimate, and a lot of free stuff.
Game Store Fronts
  • Steam This one is so obvious I didn't add it, but apparently many want me to. It is the best out there, and you can find almost everything, with fantastic deals.
  • Greenmangaming offers games cheaply. Again, not a grey market site (which are legal but unethical) and they sometimes do bundles.
  • GoG (Good old games) is a DRM free site run by CDPR, the makers of the Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk. They offer you games quite cheap and not needing DRM (such as Steam, Uplay etc which is less invasive versions of dodgy DRM from the olden days).
  • Epic Games Despite the controversy whether you care about their rivalry with valve, they offer free games ever week. Without ever having bought anything I have gained over 170 games. literally. Good games for the most part. They often give you £10 coupons as well.
  • Twitch Everyone knows twitch, but if you don't, it's a streaming service for watching gamers and girls with low cut tops accidentally bending over in front of the game. However, if you're signed up to prime, you get free games each month (and randomly between the set bunch).
  • Playstation Store Currently has January sales. Currently the free games for PS+ are for PS4: Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Greedfall. For the Ps5 it is Maneater
  • Games with Gold Bleed 2 and the King of Fighters XIII is available until Janurary 15th whilst little Nightmares is available until January 31st.
Gaming Subscriptions
Like the TV versions, you can sign up to these for a free trial (or very cheap). If you do sign up to only one at a time, it should keep you busy for a few months
  • Xbox Game Pass You can do this on both/either an Xbox or PC. If you sign up to the regular one, you can get a month (maybe three!) for £1. After you have done that, you can sign up to the premium version for 3 months at £1 a month. Most people know game pass, but you can download a large selection of games for free. The premium version gives you games with gold, allowing you to keep the games forever (but can only play with a subscription)
  • Ubisoft+ I'm not 100% sure if you get a trial or not. This allows a large collection of Ubisoft titles to play for £12.99 a month. Quite expensive but good if you like Ubisoft titles I guess.
  • EA Play EA's version. Goes by a ton of names I think, EA Access, EA Play, Origin Access etc etc. There's a couple of versions of this, and it is across all platforms (PS4/5, Xbox, PC) but not sure about the switch. I "think" the premium allows you to play on all platforms, while the cheaper one on a single platform, but I may be mistaken.
  • PS Now a once terrible service that is now actually very good. Allows you to download some Ps4 games to your PS4/5 and lets you stream a massive amount of Ps2/3/4 to your PC or playstation.
There's more like nvidia's service but you need the Shield device which is quite expensive. I'll leave it at that.
Audiobooks & Ebooks
  • Audible Not sure what the current deal is but if you are a prime member you can sign up for a trial and get a free Audiobook each month for 3 months. Some warhammer books are 48 hours long, 3 of those gives you a good 100+ hours of listening!
  • Comixology Another Amazon company, but lets you download some free comics I believe.
  • Marvel Unlimited No experience with this. ItFuckingWont wanted me to add it. A subscription service for Marvel.
Education
  • Sign Language BSL here No experience myself, suggested by n21brown and asked for a few times. Didn't know SL was so popular! Listed as "Pay what you can"
  • BBC's Bitesize here is apparently good for home learning. Again, no personal experience.
If you need some spare change
Okay, I don't generally bother with it, but maybe some of this could be useful to you. These are NOT a quick way to make a fortune. These are small things you can do over time for a bit of pocket change
  • If you have prime you can get a FREE FIVE POUND GIFT CARD by literally just streaming a song from Amazon music (which is included in prime) here is the details According to the comments it's only for select people, but it's worth trying If the link doesn't work for you just google "Amazon £5 coupon music"
  • Now, these sorts of sites have been around for years, I haven't used any other than talkInsights which I must have signed up to 10-15 years ago. Basically they send you surveys and you answer them. They are confidential and don't ask for personal details in the survey. You need 2000 points and you get £20. During the pandemic they've slowed down but I probably get around £40 a year. Not much I know, but it's an email followed by a quick survey ticking boxes. Depending on your answer sometimes you get screened out, I'm not telling you to lie but just be consistent with your answers and you should be able to work out how to not get screened. Some emails are only worth 20 points, others 200. It's slow to get to the 2000 but very quick to just answer a few questions.
  • Apparently beermoneyuk is a good sub to make some pocket change with.
  • There is also matched betting. I have never done this, I don't have the patience but from what I've read, it's legitimate, it works and you can make a fair amount of cash from it so long as you do it correctly, and there's a ton of guides. I mention this because people stuck at home could get into it and as long as you're careful (I.E not entering in the wrong numbers) it's risk free AND it pisses off the betting shops. It seems people in comments have had success with it. Disclaimer A couple have complained about gambling. This arguably is not gambling. If you are susceptible to addiction do not do it. However, it's argued that there is no fun or buzz in this, and it's a very tedious and time consuming thing. Others argue you can't make the same money anymore (People were making thousands, now only hundreds if that). It's risk free providing you know what you're doing, the risks are user error, such as entering the wrong numbers. Someone pointed out that due to the lockdown, bets could potentially be cancelled due to sport stopping. So use on a side of caution. We're (mainly) adults so I'll leave it up just because this doesn't have the excitement of regular gambling.
  • Microsoft Rewards This is an easy way to make pocket change doing very little. Most people have a MS account. The rewards program offers you numerous ways to grab points, by playing free to play games, answering small questions (you don't even need to answer most of the time, just open the link and shut it) and by using bing and searching on it. I've gotten 20k points JUST by answering questions over a couple months. There are many rewards but you can grab a £5 gift card for 6k for example, or a month of game pass (and AFAIK you can make points playing the games)
  • Google rewards Someone mentioned this in the comments. I have not used it, so can not give any input on it. Sounds similar to TalkInsights which I linked. Google states "Complete short surveys while standing in line, or waiting for a subway. Get rewarded with Google Play or PayPal credit for each one you complete. Topics include everything from opinion polls, to hotel reviews, to merchant satisfaction surveys. We’ll notify you when a survey is waiting."
That's it for now. I will try to update as I go along. A long post but I hope that it can help some of you with finding something good to do that's free, cheap or a bargain. I do suggest getting prime, especially since you get free music, free delivery, free TV and music and free video games each month. In fact, there's a ton of perks and I feel I've gotten way over the cost investment.
Hope it helps someone at least
PartTimeCrazy said if you bought an Apple product you get 3 free months of Apple Arcade and Apple TV free for a year
fakehunted is upset I didn't mention wanking. Tesco have 225 sheets of Tissue for £0.75!
tale_lost suggested Project Gutenberg for a collection of free E-Books
Learning Language
Unfortunately, I don't have time to check every link listed so I will link the comments:
Togtogtog Gives a lot of links for Spanish
Board & Tabletop games
Corporal_Anaesthetic has made a list of Board games
ilyemco suggested these
HEALTH
I'm not a doctor! But if you're a smoker, something I strongly suggest is to quit. I struggled for years but in the first lockdown I quit, technically. I haven't had a cigarette since, however, I do that silly thing millennials do. I vape, but, it made quitting extremely easy. I would not have been able to do it if it wasn't for 88Vape They sell extremely cheap liquids at £1 each. You can find these in B&M but you can pick up 25 for £20 or buy your own mix.
Vitamin D deficiency has been said to be a big problem for the virus. I'd suggest (again, not a doctor!) that you pick some up. Tesco do a 3 for 2 deal. So you can pick up 270 tablets for £7.
If you are vulnerable you MIGHT be able to phone tesco and get put on their delivery saver list (currently it's paused but phoning may help. At the very least they might give you a priority slot. I did this for my mum, we didn't shop at Tesco but I phoned for her, and they put her on with no hassle, so she can always get a delivery.
HELP & ADVICE
The lockdown Rules.
Reasons to leave home include:
  • Work or volunteering where it is "unreasonable" to work from home. This includes work in someone else's home, such as that carried out by social workers, nannies, cleaners and tradespeople
  • Education, training, childcare and medical appointments and emergencies
  • Exercise outdoors (limited to once a day). This includes meeting one other person from another household in an open public space to exercise
  • Shopping for essentials such as food and medicine
  • Communal religious worship
  • Meeting your support or childcare bubble. Children can also move between separated parents Activities related to moving house
I want to add, if you are in danger you are also allowed (and must!) to get away from the situation for some reason, BBC seems to have missed this very important thing (or I am blind)
Support
FOR THOSE SHIELDING YOU CAN CONTACT THE ROYAL VOLUNTARY SERVICE. These people helped my mother with picking up her medicine from the chemist. They were very helpful and went out their way to keep in touch and do it immediately. (It's the only experience I have with them though)
_riotingpacifist wanted these links added, but I simply just don't have the time to vet and check all the suggestions here, so I will link as is:
Update:
Digital Art
These are Free
  • Krita Arguably the best in my opinion. It has a load of options, brushes and a decent UI. It works fantastic with a tablet.
  • Gimp This is a decent program but last I used, the UI was a pain, and it isn't so user friendly while misses features, but it works, and it is possible to do some incredible creations on it.
  • Medibang Paint This is slightly geared towards Comics and Manga. I really enjoy using this with my drawing Tablet. As far as I know, it also for regular tablets for Android/Ipad and is free.
You can pick up a drawing tablet on Amazon quite cheap these days! Small ones that are just a black slate such as the wacom ones are good but takes some practice to get use to, but very worth it if you can't afford a dedicated drawing tablet with a screen.
Office suit software
A couple of free applications for word processing, spreadsheets etc.
  • LibreOffice This has most the average user would need to write their own books or to work from home. There's not a huge amount of difference between the two I'm linking (since I last used anyway) so it's more for preference.
  • Open Office You can pick this up here and again, like above it's just preference.
Music Making
I'm going to direct to matthewharris806 for some links as all the programs I've used like Reason are expensive, or cheaper stuff in bundles such as Magix software.
Games development
D_Dad_Default gives some links for that here

The brilliance and oddity of British life

Going on two years in the UK now as a former colonist and erstwhile author of a post about the beauty of British life, I thought I’d update my post a bit with some observations on the brilliant points and persistent oddities of living on the rock we call Great Britain. A lovely place, all in all. Chuffed to be here.
Brilliant:
The bacon bap/bacon butty. What an homage to the simple joys of life.
Sticky toffee pudding. Sure, it only dates to the 1970s, but there’s no better dessert for your money.
Flat whites everywhere. Not really a thing in America most places. Once you have a good one, it’s hard to live without.
Hot water heat. This country has a love affair with boilers and radiators and it’s a treat. I have yet to see a heat pump or forced air.
Fan ovens. So common, so useful.
The Royal Mail.
DPD can tell me down to the second when my parcel will arrive, the weather, my horoscope, and the food preferences of the delivery man’s dog.
Bread in wax paper packages. Damn convenient, more eco-friendly.
Fallen trees in parks. When a tree is felled, they leave it as an object of interest. A minor but pleasing touch.
Mini-roundabouts.
DVSA in general. It’s nice to have had to take a proper licensing exam, unlike some places clears throat in 50 US states
Unexpected heritage sites.
Wales in general.
Heathrow.
The best British chocolate.
The local chippy.
The prevalence of contactless.
Sunday roast.
British beer. Germany gets too much credit and Britain doesn’t get enough.
All the ciders under the sun.
The volume and variation of helicopter traffic in London.
Immigrant culture.
BBC dramas.
The NHS.
Nicest trash trucks I’ve ever seen. You could eat off the one that takes my rubbish.
Nando’s. Sorry foodies, it’s a treasure.
The weather.
Tea as a concept.
Maro Itoje.
The kindness and self-effacing humour of the average Briton.
Odd/Maddening
Bit of an odd relationship with electricity. You all seem to think that the rest of the world gets shocked in their bathrooms regularly.
A strange fascination with the spectre of legionnaires disease.
Yodel being perpetually unsure whether I even have a parcel coming.
Compensation. If you’re not a banker or a footballer, the compensation in this country is shockingly low for many jobs.
British opinions on British chocolate.
Luton.
The weather.
Not a white egg in sight.
A few too many Prets, if I’m honest.
Football being more popular than rugby. Makes no sense to me.
Tea as a beverage.
Rifled cannons on tanks.
Customer service as a favour, not a given.
All the weird American crap you’ve imported and somehow we have Burger King and KFC but no Wendy’s.
The national allegiance to passive-aggressive problem solving.
Marmite.
Telecoms architecture from last century.

Inside the r/financialindependence Time Machine

I started writing this post to try and get my thoughts out, and also guide some of the newer members of the sub. Instead I went back through old posts and just pondered on how the sub had changed since it started.
First lets teleport back to 9 years ago, the world is falling apart due to the Arab spring, but Osama’s dead, the London Olympics is around the corner and the UK and US are looking like they are recovering, curiosity rover landed on mars. Around 1000 subscribers on the financialindependence sub:
The financial crisis is still ringing in the back of your head, you knew people who seemed well off who lost their jobs and houses, the job market has been shit for a while. My parents sold all their shares in 2008/2009 and had three 0% down repayment mortgages for example (it was common knowledge in 2006 that it was a guaranteed way to be rich, reminds me of tesla/bitcoin). However, green shoots have been spreading for a while, 2010 wasn’t too bad really, 2011 is going great. The market is still two thirds below 2008 levels.
You most probably read earlyretirementextreme or thesimpledollar, you most probably had read your money or your life, the millionaire next door or a random walk down wall street. You might have somehow found the bogleheads forum and got linked through to reddit. I personally couldn’t find any of these resources and was looking at Peter Lynch, Warren Buffet, Forex trading, buying houses etc.
So what are the main beliefs and thoughts? The main themes on the subreddit is sustainability, frugalness, being happier with less. I really think that’s a reflection of the time and points in a good way to survivorship bias. The best examples of people who had stayed the course were frugal and lived below their means, they had diversified assets. Index funds werent anywhere near as popular then either so it was much harder to not lose everything in the GFC, but some people were on the index fund train and were comfortable enough to power through. The only real way people could have done that is cut expenses and live within your means.
Heres some example posts. Note all the comments are about living happily with less.
https://www.reddit.com/financialindependence/comments/nlnlb/celebrating_1000_subscribers_to_rfi_whats_unique/
https://www.reddit.com/financialindependence/comments/md1tv/rfi_what_are_the_most_extremely_awesome_changes/
Zoom forward a couple of years to joining at the start of 2015, the world isnt really falling apart yet until next year (BoJo and Trump arent taken seriously), uptown funk hit number 1, Game of Thrones anyone? I think this sub hit 100,000 subscribers around then:
The stock market is on an absolute tear, its finally surpassed its 2008 highs in 2014. The mood everywhere is pretty good, house prices have done very well in cities and recovered in most suburbs. The common person has started feeling ok about stocks again but has no idea what an index fund is, stocks are still considered pretty dangerous if you speak to your uncle. I distinctly remember reading lots of articles (maybe slightly earlier) that Amazon was a bad investment as it didn’t make profit, dividend paying stocks like utilities, oil and tobacco were the game of the day. I personally had made some disastrous plays into renewable energy stocks around 2014/15 as I was trying to be sustainable.
You definitely read mrmoneymustache, probably religiously. You probably post here and read some of the other various blogs in the side bar (frugalwoods, jlcollions, getrichslowly etc.). You may have found the sub through some kooky articles on CNBC or the BBC. The book selections havent really changed much at all.
Main conversation points? Frugality is still the name of the day. Living a happy and sustainable life. Riding bicycles everywhere and doing your own repairs. 4% rule is king. Some dissenting opinions are brewing about how incredulous it is to retire on $600,000, but the conversation is very polite. The veterans' portfolios are really starting to bear fruit and gain notoriety after investing through the downturn (or at least not selling and cutting down expenses).
I really enjoyed reading some of the top posts from this year.
/u/rootofgoodblog ‘s retirement announcement. Some disagreement about whether $32,000 was enough (spoiler, it was, maybe even too much so far) https://www.reddit.com/financialindependence/comments/1pq2dn/retired_at_33_with_32000yr_retirement_budget_me/
https://www.reddit.com/financialindependence/comments/1ob1uu/how_much_money_do_you_need_to_achieve_financial/ The first name I clicked on here was zikoris, who still seems active and preaching the frugal life, way to go.
Zoom forward to the present day. >800,000k subscribers, the world is falling apart again, WAP was number one for some reason:
10 plus years of constant returns, a flash crash near the start of the year scared the shit out of everyone for all of a month. You probably know people not working now, but you’ve kept your job and also have saved extra this year. Your mate might even be sitting pretty on 5 bitcoins and some tesla stock. Instead of instilling fear the crash has instilled confidence. Every man and his dog has some ETF ‘Index’ funds. Turns out renewables and Amazon were the right call, go figure. Still, I have more money than the people at work bragging about bitcoin, not that I tell them. If I’d invested in index funds in 2011, not 2014/5, rather than a house, individual shares etc. I’d be richer. If I’d not invested in a second property after that I’d be a lot less stressed at the least.
More than likely you found the site through somebody linking through to the sub, it might have even popped up on your feed. Theres a plethora of blogs and youtube channels, you might listen to choosefi, but just as likely other investing podcasts. The dinosaur blogger portfolios have hit unimaginable heights. Mostly they seem pretty bored of blogging now and rarely post. You probably work in software, you really might just be browsing around and shaking your head at the incredible wealth, you might equally have come and cannot fathom why people think 10% returns are good, you might equally also think 4% of your portfolio sounds risky.
Conversation points now? Money is king. Lots more people that have stayed the course. It’s very common to be told that your portfolio isnt enough, its also pretty common to have to defend some luck you’ve had. A lot of portfolios are bitcoin and meme stocks, but still really the minority on this sub. I personally hide out in leanfire in my safe space.
https://www.reddit.com/financialindependence/comments/c2fotn/unpopular_opinion_thread/ One of the most popular posts last year. Probably skewed by hitting the front page
https://www.reddit.com/financialindependence/comments/djpwll/unpopular_opinion_1m_isnt_a_lot_of_money_anymore/ By my reckoning that was about $870k in 2011. I’d like to think people were arguing about shiller cape ratios, but not really. The estimates of FIRE have definitely ballooned.
Now what’s my point? My original thinking was to write this for my own benefit. But also just show people it’s important to run their own race and be nice to each other, but to also think in terms of decades rather than thinking in the present. It took 6 years for the stock market to recover in 2008, this time it took 6 months. So much happens, so many plans seem incredulous but work out, some people get lucky, some people don’t. The people that have stayed the course are more than likely frugal, more than likely good at sticking to an achievable plan, and more than likely good at tracking things so they can adjust quickly. However some people stayed rich from the 2000’s housing boom the same way some people will stay rich from bitcoin and the 1990s tech stock boom. This fact is not my problem, I have a plan and I’m sticking to it. I had to message my dad regularly in March not to sell, although thankfully this time he had a competent financial advisor that he actually listened to rather than his son.
Where will you be in 9 years? It’s good to think about that.

Website/Author Aggregates' Score ~ Critic's Score Quote Platform
Polygon - Carolyn Petit Unscored ~ Unscored Cyberpunk 2077 is dad rock, not new wave PC
Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Graham Smith Unscored ~ Unscored Cyberpunk 2077 is huge, sprawling, complex, and deeply flawed. It’s at its best as a fairly straightforward singleplayer action game, with likable characters and thrilling capers in a fascinatingly detailed open world that looks better than any game before it. It’s at its worst if you want it to be an RPG, an approach-as-you-please Deus Ex successor, or a polished piece of software. I enjoyed my time with it a lot, and I even want more of it, though I’m going to spend years complaining about its flaws. I’ll enjoy the complaining, too. PC
Skill Up - Ralph Panebianco Unscored ~ Unscored This game and Night City are far too special an experience to be interrupted and undermined by the issues that currently undermine this game. Part of me wishes I was among the people who picked up the game for the first time a year from now, with all its parts finished and shiny like a brand new Quadro type 66 Avenger. Regardless of when you pick it up, you're in for a once in a lifetime experience, and you can't say that about many games. PC
Push Square - Robert Ramsey Unscored ~ Review-In-Progress On PS5 via backwards compatibility, there's still fun to be had - a glimpse of the game's excellent potential - but even then, it's crippled by bugs and crashing issues. There's something truly special at the core of Cyberpunk 2077, but in its current state, it's simply not good enough. So far, a colossal disappointment. PS4
TheSixthAxis - Alexis Ong Unscored ~ Review-In-Progress Pondsmith has talked at length about how 2020 and 2077 aren’t meant to be prophecies, but cautionary tales, but CDPR isn’t quite the right studio to pull off a cautionary tale of this scope. I’m not sure whether dumping more hours in will yield a better takeaway, but here’s hoping for more. PS4 Pro
Press Start - Brodie Gibbons Unscored ~ Review-In-Progress Cyberpunk 2077 is staggering, overwhelming, and even surprising at times in its spectacle. Although my first dozen hours with the game has been marred by easy-to-fix problems, Nighty City, along with all it offers and all that call it home, makes for an intoxicating escape. Here's hoping the next one hundred hours are as utterly compelling. PC
Eurogamer - Chris Tapsell Unscored ~ Recommended Exceptional characters, heartfelt storytelling and enjoyable action threaten to be engulfed by endless bugs and hasty, uneven design. PC
GameOnAUS - Royce Wilson Unscored ~ Essential This is an outstanding and highly enjoyable game, but take your time with it, do all the side missions (think of them as extensions of the main quest, in fact) and don’t rush the main storyline. You should absolutely take the earliest available opportunity to explore Night City and everything it has to offer. From the visuals to the music to the vibe, it’s a superb experience and one I am looking forward to spending a lot more time with. PC
Daily Mirror - James Ide 100 ~ 5 / 5 stars It's been a long wait, but the end result is a massive sprawling RPG with an incredible story, heart-pounding action, solid mechanics and customisation, offering you unparalleled player choice in a deep, atmospheric world that I can't wait to plug myself back into. PC
Digital Spy - Owen Gough 100 ~ 5 / 5 stars We could wax lyrical about how good this game is for another ten years, and we still think the conversation would be relevant - so yes, we think Cyberpunk 2077 is the game of the decade. This is an event, and a big moment in gaming, because the brilliant Cyberpunk 2077 is laying down the stepping stones for greater feats in the future. PC
GameSpew - Richard Seagrave 100 ~ 10 / 10 Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t perfect, but it is ambitious. It marries a gripping story with a huge open world absolutely dripping with atmosphere; one in which, after fifty hours of gameplay, I still feel like I’ve only scratched its surface. Even now I’m itching to jump back in and complete yet more side jobs, not only because they’re enjoyable, but also just in case they offer V more options when it comes to ending their story. PC
Gamerheadquarters - Jason Stettner 100 ~ 10 / 10 Cyberpunk 2077 is the cyberpunk game of my dreams, it provides one of the most highly detailed environments I’ve ever seen, with an incredibly expansive and immersive narrative. Stadia
GamesRadar+ - Sam Loveridge 100 ~ 5 / 5 stars What Cyberpunk 2077 lacks in core campaign length, it makes up for with depth and soul, offering a world of intrigue and violence unlike any other. PC
God is a Geek - Mick Fraser 100 ~ 10 / 10 Despite a few flaws, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most consistently astounding pieces of media I've ever had the pleasure of consuming. PC
PowerUp! - Leo Stevenson 100 ~ 10 / 10 Frankly, Cyberpunk 2077 is the best video game I've ever played PC
The Digital Fix - Andrew Shaw 100 ~ 10 / 10 CD Projekt Red has set a new standard for what can be achieved in this sandbox. Cyberpunk 2077 is taking open-world gaming to the next generation. PC
TheGamer - Kirk McKeand 100 ~ 5 / 5 stars I’m V and the game is Silverhand - I can’t get Cyberpunk 2077 out of my head. I’ve had it a week and played 70 hours, which is probably about as healthy as scooping out my face and replacing it with electronics, but it didn’t feel like work. Like a digital personality loaded onto a biochip, it felt like stepping into another life for a while. It’s a life I can’t wait to relive. PC
VG247 - James Billcliffe 100 ~ 5 / 5 stars With so much to see and do, Cyberpunk 2077 is the kind of RPG where you blink and hours go by, which is just what we need to finish off 2020. PC
Windows Central - Jez Corden 100 ~ 5 / 5 stars Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world masterpiece that features some of the most immersive and liberating storytelling this industry has to offer. With full freedom to choose V's personality, looks, and gameplay style, Cyberpunk 2077 gives the player an unrelenting amount of control in a world that delivers dozens upon dozens of hours of high-quality content. PC
Stevivor - Jay Ball 95 ~ 9.5 / 10 The most important thing that everyone needs to know about Cyberpunk 2077 is that while it’s imperfect, it is without a doubt a superb game. PC
Geek Culture - Marion Frayna 91 ~ 9.1 / 10 The dark future certainly looks promising, thanks to the collective imagination of the team at CD Projekt Red, which seems to know no bounds. Cyberpunk 2077 certainly took a while to come to our hands, but be glad it’s finally here, for it is here to stay for a long time to come. And it certainly did not disappoint. PC
Game Informer - Andrew Reiner 90 ~ 9 / 10 An open world you can get lost in and continue finding new things to do PC
GameWatcher - Marcello Perricone 90 ~ 9 / 10 A remarkably well-executed open world game whose greatest heights exceed its deepest failings. PC
GamingBolt - Rohan Philip 90 ~ 9 / 10 Minor flaws aside, Cyberpunk 2077 on PC is an exciting and enthralling open world experience. It doesn't set a new industry standard, but it does most of the things it aims to do with great success. PC
Hardcore Gamer - Chris Shive 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 Cyberpunk 2077 is excellent and one of the must-play titles of 2020, but unfortunately this statement needs to be clarified depending on the platform. PC
IGN - Tom Marks 90 ~ 9 / 10 Cyberpunk 2077 throws you into a beautiful, dense cityscape and offers a staggering amount of flexibility in how you choose to take it from there. PC
PC Invasion - Jason Rodriguez 90 ~ 9 / 10 Cyberpunk 2077 has some glaring flaws and missed opportunities. Its open-world sandbox suffers from poor NPC and police AI, and it lacks customization and transmogrification features to help your character stand out. Still, the pros outweigh the cons owing to a brilliant narrative, memorable missions, strong supporting cast of characters, well-integrated combat and hacking mechanics, and jaw-dropping visuals. PC
PCGamesN - Richard Scott-Jones 90 ~ 9 / 10 Groundbreaking, but not quite as much as you're hoping it is. Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't surpass its brilliant influences, but in Night City, Johnny Silverhand, and its chilling vision of hyper-capitalism, it claims territory of its own. PC
RPG Site - Alex Donaldson 90 ~ 9 / 10 When Cyberpunk's grim setting and mix of gameplay systems land, it is a powerfully impressive experience - sprawling, dense, clever, witty, and most importantly damn good fun. Other times, it has all the charm of a moody, edgy teenager. PC
TrueAchievements - Heidi Nicholas 90 ~ 4.5 / 5 stars It might not reinvent the genre in every aspect, but for a fantastic story, an insanely detailed word, and brilliant dialogue, you’ve got to try it. PC
Xbox Achievements - Dan Webb 85 ~ 85 / 100 Cyberpunk 2077 is an incredible but hugely flawed video game. At its core lies a deceptively deep-RPG, set in one of the most wonderous cities ever created in video games and it’s genuinely an experience I’ll never forget. It’s just a shame it’s such a bloody bugfest, though. XBSX
Daily Star - Tom Hutchison 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars If you’re willing to lose yourself in Cyberpunk for the long term you’ll definitely get your money’s worth out of a strong role-player that’s flowing with action missions.
GameCrate - Angelo D'Argenio 80 ~ 8 / 10 I want to recognize how ambitious and fun this game is while simultaneously warning people about how incomplete and sloppy it is. Whether or not this is a worthwhile purchase will be entirely up to whether or not you want to brave the bugs, glitches, and general half-baked feel in order to get to the core roleplaying game underneath. PC
GameHaunt - Mark Louis Salazar 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars Cyberpunk 2077 is of massive ambition, and the characters in it are brilliantly written and performed. PC
Jump Dash Roll - Derek Johnson 80 ~ 8 / 10 Cyberpunk 2077 has some seriously major technical problems, but it's worth putting up with them to experience a fantastically down-to-earth story that's accompanied by solid shooting and great music. PC
Metro GameCentral - GameCentral 80 ~ 8 / 10 A stunning achievement in open world gameplay but one whose tonal inconsistencies and weak narrative undermines what could have been an all-time classic. PC
Screen Rant - Cody Gravelle 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars Ultimately, it feels like Cyberpunk 2077 is a fitting bookend for the previous generation of games and a strong starting point for current-gen. Now it's time to start innovating again. PC
TrustedReviews - Jade King 80 ~ 4 / 5 stars CD Projekt Red has created a triumphant RPG experience with Cyberpunk 2077, yet it often falters under the weight of its own ambition thanks to inconsistent writing and narrative PC
VideoGamer - Josh Wise 80 ~ 8 / 10 The scenes that have lodged most deeply in my memory are not those devoted to the chases, the shootouts, or the narrow squeaks, but those possessed of a quiet empathy. PS5
PC Gamer - James Davenport 78 ~ 78 / 100 Some nice characters and stories nested in an astounding open world, undercut by jarring bugs at every turn. PC
Critical Hit - Brad Lang 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Cyberpunk 2077 tells a compelling story with an excellent assortment of characters but fails to deliver on the promises of a living, breathing open-world. All of these faults are amplified by a messy user interface, unengaging combat, and shoddy performance across multiple platforms. PC
Destructoid - Chris Carter 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 Cyberpunk 2077 is a victim of bloat, but you can choose to ignore a lot of it and take in the sights. That's where Night City is at its best, and I sincerely suggest that you take your time going through it, as rushing will only lead to disappointment. Even just strolling through though though, you'll probably be left wanting more. PC
Easy Allies - Ben Moore 75 ~ 7.5 / 10 The glitz and glamour of Night City unfortunately doesn't cover up its rampant bug infestation. Written PC
Attack of the Fanboy - William Schwartz 70 ~ 3.5 / 5 stars Cyberpunk 2077 will ultimately be optimized for every platform and the major bugs will likely be squashed, but it's real problems will remain. A lack of gameplay and systems that matter leave the game feeling uninspired, even if some of the conversations and characters in this world are the best we've seen in quite some time. PC
But Why Tho? - Quinn Hiers 70 ~ 7 / 10 Cyberpunk 2077 offers players an interesting world to explore, great storytelling, and loveable and deep characters. But the main story is light on cyberpunk themes, and the bugs and bad graphics really hinder the playability. Once the technical bugs are hammered out, Cyberpunk 2077 will be a game I would recommend. PS4
GameSpot - Kallie Plagge 70 ~ 7 / 10 Cyberpunk 2077 has standout side quests and strong main characters, though its buggy, superficial world and lack of purpose bring it down. PC
Kakuchopurei - Jonathan Leo 70 ~ 70 / 100 Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely a massive CRPG undertaking. If it weren’t for the glitches and bugs in the way, I’d say CD Projekt has a helluva masterpiece in its hands. PX, XBSX
PCMag - Gabriel Zamora 70 ~ 3.5 / 5 stars I fell in love with Night City, warts and all. If its many bugs can get ironed out, Cyberpunk 2077 is a potential Game of the Year candidate. Here’s hoping that CD Projekt Red can quickly push out fixes. PC
Shacknews - Josh Hawkins 70 ~ 7 / 10 I’d love nothing more than to sit here and tell you that it’s a perfect game and that you won’t have any issues playing it. Sadly, that isn’t the case. In its current state, Cyberpunk 2077 has a strong story and world, but those strengths are weighed down by bad design decisions and bugs aplenty. PC
Twisted Voxel - Ali Haider 70 ~ 7 / 10 Too ambitious for its own good, Cyberpunk 2077 attempts to do too much and falters in its execution as a result. Despite its issues, it’s better than the sum of its parts and might be worth checking out for fans of action RPGs. PS5
Worth Playing - Chris "Atom" DeAngelus 65 ~ 6.5 / 10 It may not sound like it, but I enjoyed many aspects of Cyberpunk 2077. It doesn't hit the highs of The Witcher 3, but it still has a lot going for it. However, it was released in such an unfinished state that it's hard to give it a positive review. It's an 8.0 game hiding in a 4.0 game wrapper. PS4
Cultured Vultures - Ryan Stevens 60 ~ 6 / 10 A lack of focus, vague combat, and some truly befuddling performance issues hamper the still competent, and often enjoyable, detective sim that the best parts of Cyberpunk 2077 want to be. PS4
Gamers Heroes - Blaine Smith 60 ~ 60 / 100 Cyberpunk 2077 is a great game, but it could have been an incredible game that defined a generation. Instead, it falls victim to its own ambition and the industry's constant desire to push, push, push it out. PS5
GamingBolt - Shubhankar Parijat 60 ~ 6 / 10 Contrary to expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 is not going to set the world on fire. It's not the gaming revolution that was promised to us, but it's still a fun RPG- with plenty of room for improvement. PS5
Guardian - Keith Stuart 60 ~ 3 / 5 stars Blade Runner meets Grand Theft Auto in this sprawling hellscape of a role-playing game, which is extraordinarily immersive but let down by misogyny and xenophobia PC
Pure Xbox - PJ O'Reilly 50 ~ 5 / 10 Cyberpunk 2077, in its current form on consoles, is a hard game to recommend getting involved with. There's a strong narrative here, brilliantly written characters, some excellent side missions, fun combat and an astonishing setting but, as things stand right now, it's an experience that's in need of some serious TLC. The Series X version may well perform better than the frankly shocking last-gen console efforts but this is a game that we had constant problems with and one that doesn't feel or play like a fully finished product. XB1
IGN - Destin Legarie 40 ~ 4 / 10 Please don't play Cyberpunk 2077 on a base Xbox One or PS4. It is a shockingly bad way to experience what is a fantastic RPG on better hardware. PS4, XB1
Gadgets 360 - Akhil Arora 30 ~ 3 / 10 CD Projekt Red delivers a horror-show on the most popular console PS4

REPOST FROM QANON CASUALTIES: I tried to post this on Change My View a while ago, but they took it down (which didn't help my mental state) Hopefully it's okay if I put it here. I need my mind changed.

EDIT: Thank you all for your responses so far. You guys have given me an avenue to view the world through a lens other than the one I grew up with, and have made me suspect that I may actually be dealing with some level of classical conditioning. I'll keep responding to comments, but I've been missing work to do so thus far, so I'll get back to the thread later.
Thank you all again for your help so far; I look forward to continuing this discussion.
You guys rock.

Let me preface this by saying that I want my mind changed. I’m only twenty-two years old, and the idea that over half of my life could be spent living in an Orwellian dystopia is honestly terrifying.
I’d also like to say that I’m not trying to offend anyone with my beliefs or opinions, I’m simply looking for answers. If you can, take everything in this post as a whole and not as individual points, as it’s not so much the individual points that are bothering me but the idea of the individual points being interconnected to form a grand plan.
With that said, I’m going to present as much information as I can in as coherent a way as possible. I’m not an “expert” on these things. I’m no David Icke, so you can be sure that I’m going to leave out certain bits of information that could be relevant to my argument, so I apologize in advance if my arguments are only half baked.
Let me give you an idea of where I’m coming from.
Growing up, my Mom was - and still is - extremely deep in the conspiracy theory world; everything from reptilians to the Earth being hollow. As far as she’s concerned, COVID-19 is just another stage of the rollout of a massive agenda that’s going to end in the entirety of humankind being hooked up to Artificial Intelligence.
My Dad, on the other hand, is on the other side of the spectrum. If he can’t find it on the mainstream news, it hasn’t happened and probably doesn’t exist. There are a couple of exceptions to that rule, but by and large, he goes off of what the media says, particularly CBC, The Guardian, and Al-Jazeera English. He is extremely logical, and if it can’t be logically explained and requires there to be massive assumptions made, he doesn’t buy it.
As for the rest of the family, they largely follow my Mom’s side of the story. One of my half-brothers in particular is very deep in conspiracy theories. He thinks Q-Anon is a crock of shite, but has very strong beliefs about COVID being a sham and part of a plan to dehumanize people. Same with 9/11, smartphone rollout, social media, etc. It doesn't help that he's incredibly intelligent, and is VERY capable of defending his viewpoints. I don't bother discussing these things with him anymore because it always ends with me feeling more stressed out.
I’ve been stuck in the middle of these differing opinions for my whole life. Generally, my parents get along, but there were times where their differences devolved into an endless back and forth that had my eight-year-old self hiding under the bed thinking that divorce was imminent.
I’ll start by listing reasons that I can think of for a global agenda NOT existing, and then will go over reasons for why I think an agenda COULD exist.
AGAINST:
  1. INFIGHTING:
Looking at the world today and all of human history as a whole, the idea of a group of people from all over the world pulling the strings of global affairs is kind of absurd. People don’t get along, so the thought of something massive like a covert global takeover going to plan without the whole thing collapsing because of infighting is almost inconceivable.
  1. WHISTLEBLOWERS:
If there is a plan to take over the world and brainwash the population, why hasn’t it been completely exposed? David Icke says that the people who do the rolling out of the agenda are too far down the chain of command for them to have any idea of what’s happening. He uses the analogy of a spider web: the spider at the center of the web is pulling the strings, while all the other parts of the web simply communicate with one another without knowing that the orders being issued are coming from the spider at the center. Again, I don’t see how SOMEBODY hasn’t found out about it yet and decided to blow the whistle.
  1. EDWARD SNOWDEN:
Edward Snowden has said in the past that he hasn’t been able to find any evidence for conspiracies like chemtrails or UFO black sites existing, and if I understand him correctly, he had access to the databases of the CIA, the NSA, the FBI, and the military, and he didn’t find anything. Now he did say that these conspiracies may exist, but if they did they would have to be hidden insanely well. That could be the case, but I feel like it’s starting to get into Occam’s razor territory.
  1. MOTIVE:
I don’t see there is a motive for global domination. After all, what is there to truly be gained? Money? Power? Control? None of those seem like realistic motivators to want to enslave the entirety of humanity. All three of those things can be achieved right now without global domination. Additionally, none of those things exist in a vacuum, so if a world government controls all the wealth and the movements of every single person on the planet, what’s the point anymore? That said, I’m well aware that a good chunk of the people in positions of power are actually psychopaths, and perhaps for someone who has no regard for human life those three things are a big enough motivator.
FOR:
  1. “COINCIDENCE”
With what’s happening in the world right now, it’s difficult for me to feel like nothing is going on behind the scenes and that it’s all just a “coincidence."
Surprisingly, many people aren’t aware of some of the things that go on behind closed doors and are only later made public.
Some of these things include the term “conspiracy theorist” being given negative connotations by the CIA as a means to counter and shut down discussion around the assassination of John F. Kennedy: https://www.snopes.com/news/2020/03/16/did-the-cia-invent-the-term-conspiracy-theory/
Or Operation Northwoods: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Northwoods
Or Operation Mockingbird: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Mockingbird
Or Project MKUltra: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MKUltra
Or heck, even Steller Wind, which is almost textbook Orwellian: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2018/11/snowden-files-declaration-nsa-spying-case-confirming-authenticity-draft-inspector
Needless to say, I feel like the fact that some of these programs were even considered, let alone put into action raises a lot of red flags around the world’s government truly having the people’s best interests at heart. If a government is capable of killing or spying on its citizens for political reasons, what’s stopping them from doing far worse?
Outside of government specifically, what about all of the allegations regarding pedophilia? The number of powerful people that received donations and endorsements from Jeffery Epstein is staggering, and for what exactly? Nobody seems to know. Then there are the allegations that are being directed at people like Andrew Derschowitz and Prince Andrew. Watching the Prince’s interview with the BBC regarding the accusations being made by Virginia Roberts against him, coupled with how difficult he is being in regards to providing information regarding the case, makes me doubtless that she’s telling the truth. The Prince’s behavior reminds me of myself when I was trying to avoid getting in trouble with my parents.
Additionally, if Prince Andrew is implicated in pedophilia, that could mean that the rest of the Royal Family could be involved in shady business as well. There is the whole conspiracy around Princess Diana's death after all. It doesn’t take much looking to see all the pedophile rings that are being uncovered, including some that are masquerading as charitable organizations: https://www.cnn.com/2017/11/20/health/haiti-orphanages/index.html
https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2019/06/235859/nxivm-leader-keith-raniere-guilty-sex-cult-all-charges
Then there’s the number of people in Hollywood that are being ratted out as sexual predators; Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacy are the main ones that come to mind, but there are certainly others. Some of the statements made by Elijah Wood are pretty damning: https://variety.com/2016/film/news/elijah-wood-pedophilia-hollywood-problem-1201781021/https://variety.com/2016/film/news/elijah-wood-pedophilia-hollywood-problem-
Then there are the blatant satanic undertones in the music industry. It’s not hard to find multiple music videos that are explicitly satanic. The one that immediately comes to mind is the video for “LA Devotee” by Panic at the Disco: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5dNcKTcnPA
Or the video for “Bon Appetit” by Katy Perry (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPI-mRFEIH0) which smacks of the “Spirit Cooking” dinners hosted by Marina Abramovic. She says she isn’t a Satanist, but I prefer to look at a person’s actions and not their words, and her art tells a different story.
If she is a Satanist, that makes me question why on earth she is so well connected with the rich and famous.
As a side note, Abramovic also took part in an art exhibition that was organized by Microsoft: https://newspunch.com/bill-gates-microsoft-cancel-marina-abramovic-campaign-after-people-flood-video-calling-her-out-satanist/
I feel that the claims that David Icke makes about there being a satanic cult pulling the strings from behind the scenes are only enforced by the content being produced by Hollywood and the music industry.
Moving onto the LGBTQ+ movement, I know I’m going to get crap for this but please try and be understanding. I have absolutely nothing against people who want to change their gender identity. I believe that a person has every right to do so and that they should be treated with general human decency and courtesy.
What I’m against is Sex Ed class being bumped down to kindergarten: https://www.king5.com/article/news/politics/state-politics/washington-state-sexual-education-bill-passes-senate/281-a5d8b98e-1487-4be5-b2fc-f638b4511230
Or little boys and girls being encouraged to wear clothing of the opposite sex: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/8103957/boys-encouraged-explore-gender-dresses-australia-schools/
These are not issues that children should be getting exposed to. On average, a person’s brain doesn’t stop developing until they are age 25, so why on Earth do we think it’s a good idea to have children question their already extremely fragile self-identity? How can this NOT lead to kids becoming confused?
I’m going to say it again: I DO NOT THINK THAT A PERSON CHANGING THEIR SEXUAL IDENTITY IS SOMETHING THAT THEY SHOULD BE SHAMED AND OSTROCISED FOR. However, I do believe that the post-modernist relativism that is spreading around the world today like wildfire is only leading to destruction.
Camille Paglia was asked about her thoughts on the Transgender movement and she, a Gay woman herself, said that there is a pattern throughout history of transgender ‘mania’ being a precursor to societal collapse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8BRdwgPChQ
This is not, as I understand it, because transgenderism itself causes societal collapse, but because a lack of strong principles and belief in ultimate truth in favor of relativism leads to people losing their sense of morality and right and wrong, which in turn leads to anarchy, and finally to collapse.
I believe the emphasis placed on sex is less the CAUSE of the world's issues, and more just another SYMPTOM of larger issues.
Suffice to say, I believe it is easy to see how teaching kids to question their gender identity at an absurdly young age could be used as a control mechanism later in life. If someone doesn’t even know who they are as a person, how on Earth can they take an objective look at their circumstances?
Next on the list we’ve got the “Vaccine’s cause Autism” debate, which has become so toxic it’s almost impossible to have a reasonable discussion around it, which is why I hate to bring it up but it is relevant to COVID-19 so I feel like I have to.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently “debated” Andy Dershowitz on the safety of vaccines, though it was more of a discussion than a debate: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/kennedy-jr-warns-parents-about-danger-of-using-largely-untested-covid-vaccines-on-kids
The video is quite long and there are a lot of points raised so I’m not going to get into them, but it seems that the majority of the points that RFKJ made are independently verifiable, such as vaccines not being tested against a true placebo, or how it is essentially impossible to sue a vaccine company for any form of injury caused to your child.
Then there’s the whole microchipping via vaccine thing which, while I haven’t seen any proof for, does seem possible as microchipping is becoming more and more commonplace, such as companies in Sweden having their employees microchipped as a sort of security pass or to replace credit cards: https://nypost.com/2019/07/14/swedish-people-are-getting-chip-implants-to-replace-cash-credit-cards/
It’s easy to see how microchipping could be used as a control mechanism. A chip that can track your location, your mood, your health, and then beam that information back to a private server, regardless of where your phone is.
It’s even easier to see how creating an autism epidemic could be used to control the population.
That leads rather nicely into COVID-19.
Firstly, I’d like to point out the amount of blatant censorship that has been going on. Moments after the previously mentioned “debate” was posted on Facebook, it was taken down. The same applies to a group of front line doctors who recently went to the senate and were censored: https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/censored-frontline-doctors-speak-out-we-want-to-help-people
It doesn’t make sense to me that the voices of credible people are silenced, simply because it goes against what the mainstream narrative is. Freedom of speech is a thing, isn’t it? It seems suspicious to me that the immediate response is not a reasoned argument, but censorship.
It also doesn’t make sense that Bill Gates, a college dropout, is given a larger platform than actual doctors who have gone through the schooling and know what they’re talking about. It seems like pure lunacy.
The thing that I think has me the most scared at the moment is this document by the company Onyx: https://onyxinc.ca/covid-19.html
It talks about an isolation facility that is being constructed to hold people who are suspected of having been exposed to COVID-19. It does say that where they will be transported depends on the results of an assessment, but the fact that it’s even being talked about is mind-boggling to me.
Yes, I believe COVID-19 exists, but I do not believe it is nearly as deadly as it has been made out to be, and I think that the actions that are being taken are over the top, to say the least.
The evidence for the efficacy of social distancing and masks also seems very spotty, so to make them mandatory in places like Calgary is shocking when they have the potential to do more harm to the people wearing them than good. While these do seem to be isolated incidents, people have died wearing masks, which I think calls their safety into question: https://nypost.com/2020/04/24/driver-crashes-car-after-passing-out-from-wearing-n95-mask/
https://www.nydailynews.com/coronavirus/ny-coronavirus-two-chinese-boys-die-face-masks-gym-class-20200507-ruyinz7czjbqde3tprx647q3dm-story.html
Then there’s the amount of hypocrisy and pure silliness. The British Columbian CDC recommended the use of “Glory Holes” as a means to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 while having sex: https://www.hotnewhiphop.com/canada-cdc-suggests-glory-holes-for-safe-sex-during-coronavirus-news.114699.html
You’re telling me that a bunch of serious adults wrote that guideline?
Or what about the inconsistency in standards? It’s fine to go and protest the police, but not to protest lockdown measures: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/jun/3/public-health-experts-support-george-floyd-protest/
There’s also Agenda 21, which has almost become a buzzword thanks to the map created for it that shows human living space relegated to tiny little squares of land across the US, reminiscent of Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games”: https://americanpolicy.org/2017/10/04/agenda-21-agenda-2030-there-is-no-difference/
The last thing I’ll share is this video which my mother sent to me and prompted me to write this post as it kind of pushed me over the deep end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=66XGOpMXCQE&app=desktop
Finally, reason #2 for there being a global conspiracy:
WHISTLEBLOWERS:
While there hasn’t been a mainstream exposure of a plan to take over the world by a group of extremely powerful people, there are plenty of people who claim to have worked for a variety of powerful organizations that say that something is most definitely going on, and what they are saying is simply censored because it goes against the government agenda. Are they credible? Some of them seem to be, but that’s neither here nor there.
CLOSING
To close, I would like to say that I’m sick and tired of being stuck in the middle. I’m sick of being stuck in this conspiratorial soup that has done nothing but stress me out and make me feel miserable. I want my mind changed, but I also don’t want to stick my head in the sand. I want hard evidence against these things.
I’m not looking for someone to tear apart each of these points individually; I’m looking for someone to tear apart the whole idea. I don’t want to have a debate on the efficacy of vaccines, I want to know that vaccines aren’t part of a larger plan. I want to know that the way things are being handled right now is down to human stupidity and has nothing to do with a great big “spider” at the center of the web that’s pulling the strings. Thinking about this stuff has made me suicidal in the past and I don’t want that to happen again.
I’d also like to note that I don’t consider the sources for this information not being mainstream as an argument against the premise of there being a cult controlling the world, as the whole point of the argument is that the mainstream media is complicit in brainwashing the public.
I’m going to say it one last time: I’m not looking for an argument against each point, I’m looking for an argument as to why the idea of a secret society orchestrating all of these different things is illogical. Whether what I’ve said here turns out to be true or false doesn’t bother me half as much as the idea that they’re all intrinsically linked.
I do want to reiterate that I’m not trying to offend or attack anyone’s viewpoint. I’m simply looking for answers and some semblance of closure.
Thanks in advance, and stay safe out there.

EDIT: Thank you all for your responses so far. Your responses have given me an avenue to view the world through a lens other than the one I grew up with and have made me suspect that I may actually be dealing with some level of classical conditioning. I'll keep responding to to comments, but I've been missing work to do so thus far, so I'll get back to it later.
Thank you all again for your help so far; I look forward to continuing this discussion.
You guys rock.

Bitcoin Newcomers FAQ - Please read!

Welcome to the /Bitcoin Sticky FAQ

You've probably been hearing a lot about Bitcoin recently and are wondering what's the big deal? Most of your questions should be answered by the resources below but if you have additional questions feel free to ask them in the comments.
It all started with the release of Satoshi Nakamoto's whitepaper however that will probably go over the head of most readers so we recommend the following articles/books/videos as a good starting point for understanding how bitcoin works and a little about its long term potential:
Some other great resources include Michael Saylor's "Bitcoin for Everybody"' course, Jameson Lopp's resource page, Gigi's resource page, and James D'Angelo's Bitcoin 101 Blackboard series. Some excellent writing on Bitcoin's value proposition and future can be found at the Satoshi Nakamoto Institute.
If you are technically or academically inclined check out developer resources and peer-reviewed research papers, course lectures from both MIT and Princeton as well as future protocol improvements and scaling resources. Some Bitcoin statistics can be found here, here and here. MicroStrategy's Bitcoin for Corporations is an excellent open source series on corporate legal and financial bitcoin integration.
You can also see the number of times Bitcoin was declared dead by the media (LOL) and what you could have earned if you didn't listen to them! XD

Key properties of Bitcoin

Where can I buy bitcoin?

Bitcoin.org and BuyBitcoinWorldwide.com are helpful sites for beginners. You can buy or sell any amount of bitcoin (even just a few dollars worth) and there are several easy methods to purchase bitcoin with cash, credit card or bank transfer. Some of the more popular resources are below, also check out the bitcoinity exchange resources for a larger list of options for purchases.
You can also purchase in cash with local ATMs. If you would like your paycheck automatically converted to bitcoin use Bitwage.
Note: Bitcoin are valued at whatever market price people are willing to pay for them in balancing act of supply vs demand. Unlike traditional markets, bitcoin markets operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

Securing your bitcoin

With bitcoin you can "Be your own bank" and personally secure your bitcoin OR you can use third party companies aka "Bitcoin banks" which will hold the bitcoin for you.
Note: For increased security, use Two Factor Authentication (2FA) everywhere it is offered, including email!
2FA requires a second confirmation code or a physical security key to access your account making it much harder for thieves to gain access. Google Authenticator and Authy are the two most popular 2FA services, download links are below. Make sure you create backups of your 2FA codes.
Avoid using your cell number for 2FA. Hackers have been using a technique called "SIM swapping" to impersonate users and steal bitcoin off exchanges.
Google Auth Authy OTP Auth andOTP
Android Android N/A Android
iOS iOS iOS N/A
Physical security keys (FIDO U2F) offer stronger security than Google Auth / Authy and other TOTP-based apps, because the secret code never leaves the device and it uses bi-directional authentication so it prevents phishing. If you lose the device though, you could lose access to your account, so always use 2 or more security keys with a given account so you have backups. See Yubikey or Titan to purchase security keys.
Both Coinbase and Gemini support physical security keys.

Watch out for scams

As mentioned above, Bitcoin is decentralized, which by definition means there is no official website or Twitter handle or spokesperson or CEO. However, all money attracts thieves. This combination unfortunately results in scammers running official sounding names or pretending to be an authority on YouTube or social media. Many scammers throughout the years have claimed to be the inventor of Bitcoin. Websites like bitcoin(dot)com and the r / btc subreddit are active scams. Almost all altcoins (shitcoins) are marketed heavily with big promises but are really just designed to separate you from your bitcoin. So be careful: any resource, including all linked in this document, may in the future turn evil. As they say in our community, "Don't trust, verify".

Common Bitcoin Myths
